Following a drone malfunction, a strange series of events resulted in me recovering my drone thanks to a mysterious woman in a black dress and no shoes. Intrigued?
While attempting to explain how I collect the audio for my videos, I slipped and, well, just watch.
Flying along down this river I am distracted by the mosquitoes landing on my arms as I'm trying to pilot my drone. As I came up to this tree I intended to go up and over instead I plowed right into it. 25 feet up.
It took me half an hour of throwing sticks to get it back down. It landed inches from the water. A scratched ND filter and a cracked propeller seem to be the only damage. I'm grateful.
So this is a photo of where my drone ended up in that tree before 30 minutes of stick throwing liberated it. I was lucky and learned a lesson I hope to not repeat.
After a successful outing flying down the White River towards Montgomery Reservoir, I decided to fly along the frozen reservoir back towards the river. However, it was so bright out, in my screen everything was so white, I didn't see the snowbank at the reservoir's edge and before I could pull up, I crashed. Yes, again. I was worried that in retrieving my drone that I might fall through the ice, so I emptied my pockets and carefully walked down the snow to retrieve my drone and that day's videos. Don't try this at home, or on Montgomery Reservoir in the spring. :)
